AMDR Quarterly Newsletter 2018

Hospitals and healthcare providers in the U.S. and abroad are increasingly faced with having to do more with less. Costs are up, reimbursements are down. Waste piles up. The solutions that medical device reprocessing bring to healthcare continue to gain attention and therefore, it’s been a busy and exciting time for AMDR.

We hope you’ll find helpful the resources in this newsletter demonstrating the unique value reprocessing brings to healthcare – to extend the life of medical device assets, improve patient care and reduce costs.

For instance, AMDR is working to protect reprocessing programs from increased manufacturer interference, which can undermine a hospital’s ability to fully benefit from reprocessing programs. Specifically, AMDR recently published an alert cataloging some of these tactics and providing constructive tips on how to best protect reprocessing programs.

AMDR is also turning 20!  Having played a key role in the establishment of the reprocessing industry, we continue to push the larger medical technology industry and lead the way for reprocessing to play a defining role in the evolution and utilization of new device technologies. AMDR members have a paramount responsibility to healthcare institutions, including the hospitals and clinicians that strive to provide the best care possible to all patients. To meet this responsibility, AMDR works to better align the medical device industry with the fundamental interests of hospitals and healthcare providers by making single-use device reprocessing and remanufacturing a key supply chain strategy for all hospitals.

To distinguish AMDR and its members, we adopted and published our Credo and Code of Conduct.  This is our commitment to healthcare and our healthcare partners.  We are proud of it and the solutions we bring to healthcare.  We hope you’ll reprocess with AMDR member companies who have committed to the principles of this Credo and Code of Conduct.
