AMDR Summer 2020 Reprocessing Newsletter

Dear Reprocessing News Readers,

I hope this letter finds you, your families and colleagues safe and well. There has been no summer slow down for AMDR and medical device reprocessors.  Now, more than ever, the cost-savings, supply chain resiliency and sustainability benefits of reprocessing are of critical importance.  While COVID-19 has impacted us all in so many ways, I’m proud of how the single use device reprocessing industry has continued to work with our hospital partners during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What a summer it has been!  AMDR filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in a landmark case that will test the limits of “authorized access” to a “computer.”  Check out our LinkedIn article summarizing that issue.

COVID has highlighted weaknesses in our supply chain and devastated hospitals financially.  Please check out my article in Healthcare Finance News and my joint article with Dr. Cassie Thiel of NYU in Managed Healthcare Executive.  Also check out The Green Print, a paper for which I am thankful to have participated in jointly authoring with many respected healthcare sustainability leaders, namely Dr,. Jodi Sherman of Yale and Dr. Theil.

In addition to these, AMDR has now joined and is working more closely with the Remanufacturing Industries Council. We have filed comments with the European Commission on changes to forthcoming Waste Transport Rules. Below we highlight member activity ranges from innovative new product offerings, to member-authored articles and news.

If you’re not already following us on social media, we keep a steady stream of updates so please follow us on twitter and LinkedIn for breaking news and updates from our members and friends.

Please feel free to share this newsletter.  You can urge colleagues to sign up using the function at the bottom of our homepage.

Wishing you all the best.  Thank you
